Welcome To West Los Angeles 3D Printing

If you require 3D Printing, 3D Scanning, Rapid Prototyping, Reverse Engineering, or CAD design (industrial/mechanical) services in the Los Angeles area or beyond, then you just found your best option. West Los Angeles 3D Printing can print virtually everything, from custom designed parts to prototype pieces for patent submissions. We can also provide you with CAD file design and modification so you can prep for injection molding. With output available in FDM, SLA and PolyJet, we can produce the exact type of print you need.

We also provide full product design, industrial design and mechanical engineering services. That sketch you have on a napkin can be made into an actual product and brought to market. You may just want a custom trophy designed for your award show, or a sample for your marketing team - whatever your prototyping or production needs are, we will help you fulfill them. We have created products for almost every industry, from aerospace to toys.

Let us give you a quote. Then let us make your vision a reality.

How does this work?

Well, first you send us a compatible CAD file of your design. If you do not have a CAD file, we can create one for you. Know that you cannot print from a .jpg or a photograph. We can, however, take your drawing, photo or napkin sketch and produce a final product from just that.

What file formats do you accept?

We only accept the following file formats: .stl, .obj, .stp, .igs. If you don’t have one of those file formats, then you will need to either convert whatever modeling program format you have to one of those, or hire someone to do it. Our preferred format is .stl.

What software package should I be using?

You need to create your model in a solid modeling software package. ProE and Solidworks, or any Autodesk program will do the trick. Files created using software like Sketchup and Rhino is generally unacceptable. They must be converted using specialized software and are prone to print failure. Higher end software like Max or Maya can be used, but only if all parts are boolean joined together and the model is properly triangulated.

What types of 3D printing do you provide?

SLA is a high end finish that looks like it has been manufactured. It is printed from a bed of resin. It is semi-fragile, but you can use it to cast a mold for multiple pieces. It has the highest surface quality and can be painted easily.

FDM is a filament based system that is extruded from a nozzle. These parts are typically used when strength and durability are of primary concern.

POLYJET printing is a thin coat of powdered material that is sprayed with layers of adhesive then solidified with UV light. It offers the greatest size and an incredibly detailed finish, not to mention near perfect accuracy with no warping or shrinking.

How expensive is it?

It really depends on the model and how you are going to use it. FDM is the least expensive option. If FDM costs $1, then SLA would cost $2 and Polyjet would be $3. We have a minimum setup fee of $55. The best way to find out is to get a quote. E-mail us the model, send us a link, or use our handy upload form. Whichever you choose, you will have a quote within minutes.

How long does it take?

We pride ourselves on being the fastest 3D print house in Los Angeles. The average job takes 1-2 days to complete. We can provide same day service in certain instances.

How large can you print?

We can easily accommodate sizes up to 14″ x 18″ x 30″. We have 7 printers online at this facility. For larger prints we can use a 5 axis CNC machine to carve your model out of foam. Whatever size your model, know that it can be printed here. Our largest print so far has been a Tiki Room Maui replica at over 4′ tall in 2 pieces.
